Tan Prep & Maintenance
- Shower, shave, wax, & exfoliate WITH AN OIL FREE EXFOLIANT
After your shower do not apply any moisturizers or fragrances. These can form a barrier to the spray tan solution which will reduce the overall even color of your tan. Some body washes and soaps (Dove and Caress) also have ingredients that form barriers on your skin. - Manicures/pedicures, hair appointments, lash extensions, laser hair removal, and massage appointments must be done prior to the day of your tanning appointment.
- DO NOT SHOWER RIGHT BEFORE YOUR APPT.
If you feel the need to shower the day of your appointment, please allow 3 hours between the shower and your appointment. This is more of a rinse. Do not use bar soap of any kind or any oily products as they leave a layer on your skin. Also, use cool water and rinse at the end with as cold as possible water to help close your pores to avoid a freckle appearance from open pores. - Please arrive with clean dry skin, no lotion, no makeup, no oils, no perfume, no deodorant. Spray tanning over deodorant can result in a green ring on the underarm and is difficult to remove.
- Please wear dark, long loose-fitting clothing for after your tan while it’s developing such as loose lounge pants, loose t-shirt top (short or long sleeve), loose maxi dress, and flips flops or open-toe sandals.
- Do not wear jeans, any tight-fitting clothes, tube tops/tube dresses (they have elastic), tight shorts, or tops with tight straps. With tight fitting clothes, the fabric will cause friction causing your tan to make marks and streaks and any elastics will cause marks. The bronzers may get on clothing/sheets but they usually wash off. It may stain silk, nylon, or spandex.
- Avoid Wearing Watches, Jewelry & Wristbands
- I will greet you and show you into my private studio where a skin analysis will be performed to help you decide what color you desire to ensure the perfect tan is achieved.
- Next you will step into the private in-studio bathroom or behind the privacy screen and undress while I customize your solution for your personal result.
- You will have tan lines depending on what you wear. You may wear disposable spa underwear (we provide them upon request), your own underwear (top and/or bottoms), swim suit, or nothing at all. Males must wear some sort of bottoms.
- I will then spray you with pH prep spray which will remove any dirt and oils from your skin to promote a gorgeous long-lasting tan. If desired, we will provide you with a disposable hair cover and/or nose filter.
- You will then stand behind our privacy screen on a clean towel in front of our commercial grade overspray extraction system and I will talk you through the various standing positions while I spray you with a flawless tan. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes to be sprayed and you will feel a misting sensation.
- When the time comes to spray your face, there is no need to be anxious about closing your eyes and holding your breath. I will tell you when to close your eyes and take a breath.
- After the process is done, I will dry you with heated or cooled air (depending on the time of year or body temperature).
- I will then dust you with finishing powder to absorb any tacky or sticky feeling. This will also help set the spray tan and prevent the bronzers from being transferred onto clothing.
- Voila! You are done. You can then get dressed.
Our sunless experience is the best in town making you feel comfortable and worry free.
- Avoid touching your tan and any activities that may cause you to perspire or sweat.
- Avoid skin to skin contact - bending your arms or crossing your legs. This will cause a white diamond shape on your inner elbow or back of leg. Bending over can cause lines across your stomach.
- Avoid water, lotions, or oils on your skin (hands also) until after your first shower. You do not want any splash marks or streaks.
- Protect your vehicle interior if running errands. Use a towel to cover leather or light-colored seats.
- Dogs LOVE the taste of tanning solution. Do not let your furry friend lick or jump on your tan or it will leave a white mark on your skin.
- After waiting the necessary amount of time for your solution, quick shower to remove the bronzer.
- Use warm, light spray WATER ONLY and gently use your hands to wash your body (I wear rubber gloves which glide easier over the skin and doesn’t transfer bronzer to your palms.)
- Pat yourself dry, DO NOT RUB.
It is normal for it to appear that your tan has washed off. This is only the bronzer. The tan will continue to develop over the next 24 hours. - Moisturize with an oil-free, paraben-free, and fragrance-free lotion.
- Continue to moisturize at least twice a day to retain your tan.
- Avoid hot baths and showers. These will fade your tan fast.
Swimming in the ocean will slightly fade your tan. Swimming in a chlorinated pool or Jacuzzi will fade your tan fast and can make it blotchy because chlorine acts like a bleaching agent. When swimming wear waterproof sunscreen (no alcohol as ingredient). This will slow down the fading process. - Minimize on shaving but when you do shave use a new sharp razor. Do not press hard when shaving. Bar soaps (unless it's made for tans), shaving creams and gels are drying and will cause streaks.
It is important to keep your skin hydrated for a lasting tan! If you keep your skin hydrated and moisturized, your skin won't slough off as fast and your spray tan will last longer. Tanning extenders are a great way of keeping a long-lasting tan. - MOISTURIZE! MOISTURIZE! MOISTURIZE! Apply lotion 2x a day after your first shower to ensure a long-lasting tan. Drinking lots of water will help keep your skin hydrated. Use an oil-free, paraben-free, and fragrance-free lotion.
